Russia: BRICS ready to build secure cross-border payment architecture

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov says BRICS has a broad set of tools to strengthen secure payments and safeguard member-state assets. Speaking to International Affairs magazine, he noted that options include moving toward a unified payment platform across the alliance.
Ryabkov highlighted that key provisions on financial cooperation were adopted in the 2024 Kazan declaration, with BRICS leaders in Rio de Janeiro outlining further steps to advance this work. A new investment platform is being developed to help BRICS and partner countries attract capital without the risk of external interference.
He stressed that the priority now is implementation. “I hope the coming term will show there is enough political will in all BRICS capitals to advance this agenda,” he said.
