Ambazonia seeks BRICS support as France-backed Cameroon conflict intensifies

The conflict in Cameroon’s English-speaking regions, known as the Anglophone Crisis, has increasingly drawn the attention of the separatist movement Ambazonia, which now seeks support from BRICS nations amid what they describe as a “France-backed” struggle.

The crisis dates back to 2017, when English-speaking Cameroonians began protesting perceived political, economic, and cultural marginalization by the dominant Francophone government.

Ambazonian leaders argue that the Cameroonian government’s response has been deeply coercive, involving widespread arrests, human rights abuses, and brutal crackdowns, which have fueled a protracted and violent insurgency.
