The BRICS Sherpas and Sous-Sherpas meeting concluded with a high-level session led by Brazilian President Lula da Silva, who outlined Brazil’s key priorities for the alliance.
He emphasised the need for stronger global health cooperation, inclusive AI governance, a reformed economic and financial system, effective climate finance, enhanced Global South collaboration, and institutional development. President Lula also urged BRICS nations to uphold multilateralism centred on the United Nations.
Ethiopia, actively participating in the six thematic sessions, reaffirmed its commitment to multilateralism, collective security, and sustainable development. On global health, Ethiopia called on BRICS countries to bridge critical infrastructure gaps that heighten nations’ vulnerability to public health crises.
