Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has suggested that Moscow should simplify visa procedures for visitors from BRICS countries, Tass reports.
In an interview with Tass, Ryabkov emphasised the importance of facilitating travel for BRICS members, despite the unique aspects of Russia’s relationships with each country in the group.
When asked about the possibility of visa cancellation or visa facilitation for BRICS nations, Ryabkov responded, “We should pursue this even though our relations with each BRICS member have specific nuances.”
Ryabkov noted that Russia has already established a visa facilitation regime with Venezuela, a potential BRICS candidate. He explained that while Russia has similar arrangements with most BRICS allies, “the situation is quite different with some of them, due to individual reasons.”
He also mentioned that introducing a unified immigration and visa policy within BRICS is a “viable idea” that deserves careful consideration.
