
French President Emmanuel Macron has offered to help Brazil with the development of a nuclear-powered submarine.
Brazil’s nuclear programme has faced challenges and controversies, including concerns over nuclear proliferation and environmental risks. These concerns led to the signing of the Treaty of Tlatelolco in 1967, which established Latin America as a nuclear-free zone.
Despite setbacks, Brazil has remained committed to expanding its nuclear capabilities, emphasising peaceful applications while adhering to international non-proliferation commitments. In recent years, Brazil has also explored partnerships with other countries for the development of nuclear technology.
