Experts prepare environmental proposals for BRICS Summit in Rio

Experts are preparing environmental proposals for the 17th BRICS summit, set to take place in Rio de Janeiro in July, the press service of the Nature and People Fund told TASS.

Sergey Rybakov, General Director of the Fund, said there is limited time to finalise the necessary proposals for inclusion in the Rio de Janeiro Declaration.

The proposals are being developed across five key areas within the environmental sector, drawing from the civil and expert communities of BRICS: biodiversity conservation, climate policy, combating desertification, water resources, and plastic waste pollution. The primary objective is to provide governments with ample time and data to prepare effectively, ensuring meaningful results.
