Taliban wants to attend BRICS summit

Representatives of the Taliban have submitted an application to attend the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, according to reports.

The application states that the Taliban wish to be represented at the summit by the acting Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan and head of their political wing, Abdul Ghani Baradar.

“We are interested in having a high-level delegation at the summit, including Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Ghani Baradar, myself, and other representatives,” wrote Nooriddin Azizi, the Taliban’s acting Minister of Commerce and Industry, in a letter to Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian President.
