BRICS Games 2024: Highlights from Day Eight

Day 8 of the BRICS Games 2024 in Kazan featured several standout performances across multiple sports.

In weightlifting, Haidar Sultan from Pakistan made history by securing the first gold medal for his country in the men’s 61 kg category.

Russia continued to dominate in artistic gymnastics, with Maria Agafonova winning gold in the balance beam event. The Russian team triumphed in the women’s all-around competition, with Leyla Vasilyeva and Anna Kalmykova taking gold and silver, respectively​​ (SportSocialGov)​.

The synchronised swimming events saw the Russian duet of Svetlana Kolesnichenko and Mayya Doroshko securing first place in the technical routine.

The Russian team also excelled in the acrobatic routine, winning the top spot with a score of 280.6800 points.
