BRICS Games 2024: Highlights from Day Three

Day three of the 2024 BRICS Games in Kazan saw several exciting highlights across various sports.

In athletics, standout performances included a thrilling finish in the men’s 400 meters, where India’s Rajiv Arokia clinched gold, narrowly beating competitors from Brazil and South Africa. On the women’s side, Russia’s Maria Lasitskene dominated the high jump, securing another gold for the host nation.

In swimming, China continued to demonstrate its prowess, with several gold medals in various events. Notably, Zhang Yufei set a new BRICS Games record in the women’s 200-meter butterfly, showcasing her exceptional talent.

The basketball courts were abuzz with action as Brazil’s men’s team advanced to the semifinals with a decisive victory over India, while South Africa’s women’s team secured a hard-fought win against Russia, setting up an exciting semifinal matchup.
