Wang Yi urges Bolivia to uphold interests of Global South

 

China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi, has emphasised the imperative for China and Bolivia to uphold the principles of the United Nations Charter and safeguard the collective interests of Global South nations, South China Morning Post reports.

Stressing the commitment to strengthen the China-Bolivia strategic partnership, Wang advocated for enhanced collaboration across governmental, legislative, and political spheres, aligning development strategies for mutual benefit.

Additionally, Wang highlighted the potential for cooperation in emerging sectors such as the digital economy, plateau agriculture, and green development. Bolivia’s Foreign Ministry confirmed an invitation for Minister Sosa to visit Beijing, where discussions would encompass various areas including tourism, technology, and energy.

Expressing China’s support for Bolivia’s development trajectory tailored to its national circumstances, Wang reiterated opposition to external interference in Bolivia’s internal affairs. He affirmed Beijing’s willingness to elevate the China-Bolivia strategic partnership to new heights, signalling a commitment to bolster bilateral relations.
