Ticket sales surge for BRICS Games

The 2024 BRICS Games in Kazan, Russia, have sparked remarkable enthusiasm, with ticket sales soaring to over 4,500 within just two days of launch, Tass reports. Tatarstan’s Minister of Sports, Vladimir Leonov, revealed this surge in interest, highlighting the broad appeal of the event across diverse geographic regions.

With ticket prices ranging from 100 to 300 rubles ($1 to $3), the accessibility of attendance has contributed to this widespread demand. Leonov emphasised the global allure of the games, noting purchases not only from Kazan and Tatarstan but also from across Russia and abroad.

Scheduled for June 12-23, the games will host competitions in 20 sports. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s directive in May 2023 initiated the preparations for hosting the event, emphasising its non-confrontational stance towards existing competitions and adherence to IOC guidelines.

Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin underscored the games’ complementary role within the international sports calendar, while Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed their alignment with IOC principles during discussions in China.

As anticipation builds for this multi-national sporting extravaganza, the brisk ticket sales reflect the widespread excitement and interest surrounding the 2024 BRICS Games in Kazan.
