Syria, Bolivia, Sri Lanka want to join BRICS

Syria has started the process of joining BRICS, Tass reported. Syria’s ambassador to Moscow recently said that applications to join have been submitted.

Meanwhile, Bolivia and Sri Lanka have also shown interest in becoming a member of the global alliance. According to Tass, Russian  Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said his country supports Bolivia’s ambitions, after talks with the Foreign Minister of Bolivia, Celinda Sosa.

In the same week, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Russia, Janitha Liyanage, told reporters that the country plans to join BRICS in the near future. “This will make it possible to ensure both transportation and food security and much more,” Liyanage said. The leader of Sri Lanka’s Tamil Progressive Alliance, Mano Ganesan, wants China to help Sri Lanka join BRICS.
