New Development Bank to disburse $5 billion in loans, its VP reveals during Russian trip

Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk of Russia engaged in discussions with Dilma Rousseff, President of the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB), centred on the prevailing global economic conditions and the bank’s endeavours within Russia.

Their meeting delved into ongoing economic patterns, the NDB’s initiatives within Russia, and the nation’s priorities concerning the bank’s activities.

Furthermore, NDB’s Vice President and Chief Administration Officer, Qiangwu Zhou, revealed intentions to disburse approximately US$5 billion in loans within the current year, as reported by Brasil 247, a collaborating entity of TV BRICS, according to this report.

Addressing an annual gathering at the Boao Forum in Boao, Zhou acknowledged the pandemic’s impact on their operations but expressed optimism, stating, “Our business was impacted somewhat during the pandemic, but things are returning to normal now.”

Established in 2001, the Boao Forum for Asia stands as a non-governmental, non-profit institution committed to scrutinizing global and regional economic dynamics. Additionally, the forum plays a pivotal role in fostering trade, economic exchanges, and integration efforts throughout Asia.
