The establishment of a rating system for BRICS universities is slowly taking shape. The plan stems from unhappiness with existing benchmarks.
“As to the rating for BRICS, it’s a very good proposal. We are chairing this organization this year, we are discussing issues relating to our cooperation with our colleagues. I talked about this matter with the Chinese president today. We addressed cooperation in BRICS. [It’s a] good idea,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Council for Science and Education.
“We need to consider it at a working level before the top-level meeting,” he said.
BRICS education ministers gathered in South Africa in August last year to discuss plans to set up the rating system.
