
Russian President Vladimir Putin has called Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to discuss Ukraine and BRICS-related issues.
According to a statement from the Planalto presidential palace, the conversation lasted around 40 minutes. The leaders discussed efforts to achieve peace between Russia and Ukraine and shared updates on ongoing negotiations with the United States.
“President Lula emphasized that Brazil has always supported dialogue and the pursuit of a peaceful solution, reaffirming that his administration is available to contribute in any necessary way, including within the framework of the Group of Friends of Peace, launched on the initiative of Brazil and China,” the Planalto palace reported.
“President Putin congratulated Brazil on the results of the BRICS Summit, held on July 6 and 7 in Rio de Janeiro. Bilaterally, they reaffirmed their intention to organize the next edition of the Brazil-Russia High-Level Cooperation Commission later this year,” Planalto reported.
