Three more countries have expressed interest in joining BRICS. Two countries are from the African continent, namely Namibia and Libya, while the third is from South America, in the form of Colombia.

Namibia’s ambassador to Moscow, Clemens Handuukeme Kashuupulwa, told TASS: “We are working closely with South Africa on this matter, but for the moment we are not yet prepared to be members of BRICS.”

Taher al-Bawr, Acting Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Libyan Government of National Unity, told the agency the same possibility is being studied in the country’s government circles.

Meanwhile, Colombia’s leading diplomat said his country has been following the BRICS expansion and activities with interest, TASS reports.
