Palestine to seek BRICS membership after Kazan summit

Palestine plans to submit an application to join BRICS following the upcoming summit in Kazan this October, where one session is expected to focus on the Gaza situation, according to Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Abdel Hafiz Nofal, Tass reports.

“After our initial participation in the summit, we will formally apply for membership in this organisation. Russian President Vladimir Putin has assured us that one session will be dedicated entirely to Palestine. We have high hopes for this summit,” he said.

Nofal said that Palestine’s invitation to the Kazan summit is a “positive message” and a gesture of support for the Palestinian people.

“This invitation signifies that despite the ongoing violence, killings, and destruction in the Gaza Strip, our message remains that Palestine seeks to live and develop,” he said.
