
Venezuela has been invited by Russia to participate in the BRICS summit scheduled for October in Kazan. This announcement was made by Venezuela’s Ambassador to Moscow, Jesus Rafael Salazar Velasquez, Tass reports.
Ambassador Salazar Velasquez stated, “Yes, we have received invitations from the Russian Federation to participate not only in the Kazan summit in October, but also in all events [that Russia plans].” He further elaborated that Russia, under its current BRICS chairmanship, has planned over 300 events since the beginning of the year, and Venezuela has been invited to participate in all of them. Moscow is also considering Venezuela’s application to officially join the BRICS mechanism, indicating a possible expansion of the group in the near future.
This invitation marks an important milestone for Venezuela as Moscow is currently considering the country’s application to officially join the BRICS mechanism. The inclusion of Venezuela in BRICS could have far-reaching implications for both the country and the alliance.
Venezuela, located on the northern coast of South America, is endowed with abundant natural resources, particularly its vast oil reserves.
