Turkey, Indonesia, Nicaragua, Dhaka, Venezuela signal interest in joining BRICS

More countries have signalled their interest in joining BRICS.

Venezuelan Vice President Jose Felix Rivas Alvarado told Sputnik BRICS support is important for the restoration of Venezuela’s energy sector, adding that Venezuela also hopes to join BRICS as soon as possible, the official added.

Meanwhile, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said his country would like to become a member of BRICS, Sputnik reports. Similar remarks were made by officials from Indonesia, Nicaragua and Dhaka.
Meanwhile, Bolivian President Luis Arce said in an interview with Sputnik Bolivia has a good chance of joining BRICS in 2024 after Argentina turned down such an invitation earlier this year.

And Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Moscow welcomes Turkey’s wish to join BRICS, Tass reports. “We all obviously welcome the increased interest towards BRICS from our neighbours, including such important partners as Turkey. Obviously, the issue of this interest will be on the agenda of the BRICS summit, which will be chaired by Russia and which we are actively preparing for,” he said.
