A recent summit of the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry highlighted the role of women in business and technology.
The summit witnessed the convocation of the pioneer cohort of women participants in the BRICS CCI WE Global Women Leadership Programme. Dignitaries from various nations, including Russia, China, Brazil, and South Africa, graced the event alongside notable personalities such as Padma Vibhushan awardee Sonal Mansingh and political figures like Shazia Ilmi and Swati Singh.
The event recognised emerging women entrepreneurs and facilitated discussions on various facets of women-led development, ranging from education to financial literacy. Eminent panelists, including representatives from UN Women India and experts in cleantech consulting and education, shared insights and strategies to bolster women’s leadership and promote inclusive growth.
One of the highlights was the recognition of Poonam Dhillon, actor, entrepreneur and politician, who was honoured with the BRICS CCI WE Trailblazer Lifetime Achievement Award.
The summit was attended by diplomats from Russia, China, Brazil, South Africa, Iran, Cuba, Costa Rica, Chile, Belarus, Gambia, Angola, Chad, Comoros, and Venezuela.
