At their meeting in New York, the BRICS Foreign Ministers strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir and reaffirmed their commitment to countering terrorism in all its forms. They called for zero tolerance toward terrorism and rejected the application of double standards in its fight.
The gathering, held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, also voiced deep concern over the spread of trade-restrictive measures — including rising tariffs and non-tariff barriers — which the ministers argued threaten global supply chains and create uncertainty in world markets.
Additionally, they criticised Israel’s aggression against Qatar as a clear breach of international law and Qatar’s sovereignty, and reasserted that conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa must be addressed through political and diplomatic means. They also reiterated their support for comprehensive reforms at the United Nations, especially in the Security Council, and backed Brazil’s and India’s aspirations for greater roles there.
