Vietnam formally joins BRICS as partner country

Brazil has announced the formal admission of Vietnam as a partner country of the group.

Vietnam now becomes the tenth BRICS partner country, joining Belarus, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, and Uzbekistan. The partner-country category was established during the 16th BRICS Summit, held in Kazan in October 2024.

With a population nearing 100 million and a dynamic economy strongly integrated into global value chains, Vietnam is a significant player in Asia. It shares with BRICS members and partners a strong commitment to building a more inclusive and representative international order. Vietnam’s active support for South-South cooperation and sustainable development further aligns it with the group’s core priorities.
