China welcomes Indonesia to BRICS fold

China has warmly welcomed Indonesia’s as the newest member of the BRICS family.

Indonesia’s foreign ministry expressed its support for Brazil’s announcement, noting that “BRICS membership is a strategic means to enhance collaboration and partnership with other developing nations,” according to the Jakarta Post.

The ministry said that Indonesia’s inclusion in BRICS marks a key step in strengthening South-South cooperation and reflects the aspirations of Global South countries to have a greater influence in global decision-making, as reported by Xinhua News Agency.
