The New Development Bank (NDB) is working to increase the use of local currencies to finance the sustainable development of emerging economies and developing nations, according to NDB President Dilma Rousseff.
Speaking at the 9th NDB Annual Meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, under the theme “Investing in a Sustainable Future,” Rousseff highlighted the immense challenges faced by these markets in achieving sustainable development.
“A just transition demands significant resources and long-term financing,” Rousseff said. She also stressed that addressing the growing debt burdens of developing nations is critical to attracting further investment in sustainable development initiatives.
