Ethiopia is actively pursuing membership in BRICS’s New Development Bank, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Nebiyu Tedla, the Ministry’s spokesperson, highlighted Ethiopia’s participation in BRICS consultations in Moscow, led by State Minister Ambassador Mesganu Arga, The Reporter states.
Tedla emphasised Ethiopia’s strategic move to safeguard national interests and explore financial opportunities within BRICS. Additionally, efforts are under way to secure membership in the New Development Bank, aligning with Ethiopia’s ambition to leverage international platforms for growth. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Taye Atske-Selassie engaged in discussions with Amina J. Mohammed, UN Deputy Secretary General, aiming to bolster the multifaceted partnership between Ethiopia and the United Nations.
