Lula confirms trip to Russia for BRICS leaders summit

Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will travel to Russia to participate in the next summit of leaders of the BRICS, which will be held in October, in the city of Kazan. This will be Lula’s first trip to the country since assuming his third term in 2023.

The first such meeting in the year of Russia’s BRICS chairmanship was held in Sao Paolo, Brazil on Tuesday, where Finance Minister Anton Siluanov presented proposals to improve the international monetary and financial system and create independent infrastructure to “strengthen the autonomy and financial sovereignty of developing countries.”
