President Cyril Ramaphosa used the BRICS Summit in New Delhi to press South Africa’s economic priorities.
Ramaphosa arrived in New Delhi on Friday and addressed the BRICS Business Forum, spotlighting trade and supply chains, agriculture, women-led development, the digital economy, and innovation.
The Forum is a key platform on the BRICS calendar, bringing together leaders, business representatives — including members of the BRICS Business Council and the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance — investors, and entrepreneurs from across BRICS countries and partner economies. Its role is central to shaping the bloc’s economic agenda and deepening business-to-business cooperation.
On Saturday, Ramaphosa turned to bilateral priorities, addressing the India–South Africa Business Leadership Roundtable with a focus on strengthening trade and investment between the two countries. The session also aims to draw additional Indian foreign direct investment into key sectors — pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, critical minerals, and the electric vehicle battery value chain.
