South African BRICS Business Council launches BRICS Solutions Awards

The South African BRICS Business Council (SABBC) has launched the fourth BRICS Solutions Awards, which reward innovative projects in six sectors that drive climate change mitigation, environmental sustainability, and the efficient use of natural resources.

The categories include bioeconomy, energy transition, digital transformation for sustainability, circular economy, food security & sustainable production, and innovative financing for sustainability.

Last year’s competition showcased a wide variety of innovations in everything from artificial intelligence to poetry.

The 2024 competition, held in Moscow, saw 556 projects from 11 countries and multinational corporations vying for the awards.

The target audience includes for-profit companies, non-profit organisations & associations, public institutions, universities, startups, individuals, public authorities, and local government bodies.

The competition consists of a regional phase, where local experts shortlist the top projects in each country, and the final phase, where the Brazilian committee selects winners from the regional finalists.

Registrations will take place from April 7 to May 21; the final phase takes place on June 9 and the award ceremony will take place at the BRICS Business Forum in July.
