The BRICS group may continue its expansion in 2025 as member nations consider adding new full members and defining criteria for partner countries, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov suggested.
“People in the Global East generally support politicians who aim to strengthen ties with BRICS in some way. As I mentioned, several countries are interested in full membership, and this will be discussed throughout next year,” Lavrov stated in an interview with TV BRICS, according to Russian media reports.
Lavrov also highlighted that numerous countries are eager to participate in BRICS activities, noting that “more than 30” have shown interest. “As I mentioned, the criteria for the partner country status will be finalized. Following the Kazan summit, Russia’s presidency extended invitations to several applicant countries. Currently, there is consensus among BRICS members on welcoming ten of these countries to join our initiatives,” he added.
